The Bengal Civil Supplies Department was established in British India in 1943 to deal with the severe famine in undivided Bengal during World War II and to provide food supplies. This department used to introduce statutory rationing system in major cities and quickly expanded the rationing system. The abolition of the Civil Supplies Department in 1955 after the partition of India had an adverse effect. To deal with the situation, the Food Department was set up in 1958 under the Ministry of Agriculture and Food in the form of Civil Supplies. After the independence of Bangladesh, the Ministry of Food and Civil Supplies was established in 1972. Later, this ministry was run under different names like Ministry of Food, Ministry of Food and Relief, Ministry of Food and Disaster Management, Ministry of Food and Disaster Management and so on. Latest Cabinet Division dated 13 September 2012 AD 04.423.022.02.01.002. The Ministry of Food and Disaster Management was reorganized by letter No. 2012.96 and two ministries namely (1) Ministry of Food and (2) Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief were established.
Our activities:
01. Kabikha / T. R / G. R / VG D / V. G. Delivery Order (DO) is issued from the office of the Upazila Nirbahi Officer on receipt of demand letter of rice / wheat of different sectors from F etc. etc. and the actual DO holders are informed of the rice / wheat from the food warehouse before receiving it.
02. O.M. DO is issued in favor of the dealers by depositing the government money on the basis of the treasury invoice including the dealer employer as per the government order for the implementation of foodgrain distribution activities among the poor.
03. Moreover, any order issued by the higher authority is implemented and services are provided accordingly.
